Threads 0

We watched Threads after a strong recommendation from a friend. Real survival horror. Harrowing.

Everything is as ordinary as Coronation Street at the beginning. Descends into a really brutal post-apocalyptic world by the end. The suggestion of imminent disaster during the first 30 minutes comes from news reports of a limited nuclear exchange between the US and USSR, and this tension mounts are relations between the two states deteriorate. Protests, panic buying, looting follows as it becomes clear that the situation could get worse.

Google video has the whole film. Some scenes are very disturbing.

Fido 0

Finally got a chance to catch Fido. Really enjoyed. Billy Connolly is always great and I loved the pseudo-50s atmosphere. Alernate timelines are so effective: Stubbs the Zombie, Gattaca, Pleasantville. Bizarrely more realistic than stories set in an imagined future.

This clip from the beginning of the movie describes how the Zombie Wars led to protective walls around towns and the domestication of the undead.
